The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has received Green Car Journal’s 2020 Family Green Car of the Year Award. This is the first time the prestigious award has been given, and the judges specifically chose the iconic SUV to receive the accolade because of its many family-friendly and green components.
The 2020 Family Green Car of the Year award was given at the 2019 San Antonio Auto and Truck Show on November 21. This plug-in hybrid comes with an EPA-estimated 74 MPGe, though you can also opt for an all-electric powertrain mode that can go 22 miles on pure electricity.* There’s also a Super All-Wheel Control system for added handling on tough terrain.
“Winning Green Car Journal’s first-ever Green Family Car of the Year award is a great honor and recognition of Outlander PHEV’s potent combination of reliability, efficiency and value,” said Jim Sweeting, Sales Manager for the Central Region of Mitsubishi North America.
You’ll also find a range of family-friendly features, such as a spacious interior with seating for five people and a suite of driver assist technologies. For instance, the Outlander PHEV has available Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, and Automatic High Beams. And it comes with smartphone connectivity via Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.
