Mitsubishi Motors Wins Two Awards from Automotive Science Group

2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

The Automotive Science Group, also referred to as ASG, is an organization dedicated to analyzing data received from the environmental policy consultancy Eco-innovations, LLC. Based on the data received, ASG has concluded that the winner of two 2017 awards—the titles of “Best All-Around Performance” and “Best Economic Performance Car of 2017”—is Mitsubishi Motors. The company also honored models in Mitsubishi’s lineup with awards of their own.

The title of “Best All-Around Performance” is given to the automotive brand whose lineup demonstrates the best performance in terms of environmental, social, and economic standards. Out of all conventionally-powered vehicles made in 2017, Mitsubishi’s lineup was the most environmentally-friendly. Additionally, both the Outlander and Outlander Sport won ASG’s “Best All-Around Performance” awards for individual vehicles, as well as being top performers in their respective classes.

When it comes to ensuring these vehicles deliver the kinds of comfort, performance, and practicality modern drivers expect without compromising efficiency and what’s good for the environments, Mitsubishi Motors conducts ground-breaking research that’s implemented in its lineup. The Automotive Science Group recognized this and chose to award Mitsubishi with a number of honors for its efforts.

The ES trim will come equipped with a black center bumper; the GT adds aluminum pedals, power driver’s seat, leather-wrapped parking brake handle, new exterior upgrades, black roof rails, and LED turn signal indicators.

Strong December Performance Leads to Impressive Annual Mitsubishi Sales

Annual Mitsubishi sales for 2014 ended with a strong December performance, as the automaker sold 6,545 vehicles, marking a 1.9% increase over December 2013 and the tenth consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases. That helped total sales for the year reach 77,643 units, a whopping 24.8% improvement over last year.

Highlights included the Outlander, Mirage, and Outlander Sport in particular. The latter experienced its best December ever, with 2,755 units sold and enjoyed a strong 24.5 percent overall sales increase for 2014 compared to last year. The Outlander was up 6.4 percent from 2013 while the Mirage continued its strong sales pace by yet again having over 1,000 units sold last month.

“As we move into 2015 we will start to introduce new versions of the Outlander with more refinement and power in what will be the first of a series of launches that will incorporate the brand’s new design language and vehicle packaging,” said Don Swearingen, executive VP.

Three Mitsubishi Models Named 2015 Top Safety Picks

Three 2015 Mitsubishi models have just been named 2015 Top Safety Picks or better by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, including the Outlander, Outlander Sport, and Lancer.

Both the Lancer and the Outlander Sport achieved the highest possible score of “Good” in most of the Institute’s crashworthiness evaluations—including moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint—as well as a score of “Acceptable” in the more difficult small overlap front crash test.

That was enough to get the coveted Top Safety Pick honors, but the Outlander went even one step further. It got a good rating in the small overlap front crash test and an advanced rating in frontal crash prevention thanks to its Forward Collision Mitigation technology, earning it the Top Safety Pick+ award!

“The Mitsubishi RISE safety body construction system is the perfect example of this kind of technology,” said Don Swearingen, executive VP at Mitsubishi. “In the event of an accident, energy is absorbed and deflected away from the occupant cell, which enhances passenger protection.”

At Mountaineer Mitsubishi, we’re proud to be selling some of the safest vehicles on the road!
