Mitsubishi Announces Frankfurt Motor Show Display Lineup

Mitsubishi has announced the lineup it will have on display at the upcoming 66th International Motor Show in Frankfurt, featuring a total of 15 vehicles.

These will include the Lancer Sportback, Montero, Mirage, i-MiEV, L200 (also known as the Triton), and more importantly the new Outlander and Outlander PHEV, including the rally car version of the latter participating in the Baja Portalegre 500 this November.

We’re especially looking forward to the Outlander PHEV, which was already presented in Japan and is making its European debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It’ll feature the new Dynamic Shield front fascia and bring quality enhancements to the cabin, including revamped upholstery and materials. The plug-in hybrid system will consist of a Twin Motor four-wheel drive powertrain with separate motors motivating the front and rear wheels and a high-capacity battery under the floor.

Previous models of the Outlander PHEV have been hugely popular in Europe, but Mitsubishi never brought it over to the United States—which is why we’re so happy to say that the new Outlander PHEV will finally be arriving at Mountaineer Mitsubishi in the spring of 2016!

2015 Mirage is Among Mitsubishi’s Best-Selling Vehicles

Mitsubishi’s Best-Selling Vehicle

When the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage outsold the Volkswagen GTI, Lexus GS, Toyota Prius V, Lincoln MKZ, Audi A4, and Mercedes S class last February, it wasn’t just a fluke.

The Mirage has now asserted itself as the fastest-growing nameplate in our lineup at Mountaineer Mitsubishi, something we’d probably have never predicted a few years ago. Even the company’s top executives are a bit surprised.

“It’s selling really, really well, beyond expectations,” said Bryan Arnett, senior manager of product strategy.

“Bryan never thought we’d sell in these numbers,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president, who explained that Mitsubishi had originally been split into those who thought the imported subcompact would work in the United States and those who thought it wouldn’t.

This year, the Mirage is one of Mitsubishi’s best-selling vehicles and the sharpest-rising model with a 73.6% increase compared to 2014, second only to the Outlander Sport in total sales. It outsells critically acclaimed models like the Tesla Model S and BMW i3 and competing vehicles like the Kia Rio and Toyota Yaris.

In hindsight, it may be no surprise. The Mirage costs just under $13,000, gets 44 miles to the gallon the highway, and comes with a 100,000-mile/10-year powertrain warranty. With numbers like these, maybe the Mitsubishi executives should have seen the success coming!

Customers Stay Loyal to the Mitsubishi Mirage When New Car Shopping

When it comes to loyal customers, the Mitsubishi Mirage has many. The vehicle ranked highest in customer loyalty among Non-Luxury Traditional Sub-Compact Cars for the 2014 model year.

A study by IHS Automotive confirmed that more previous owners of the Mirage returned to purchase a Mirage during the 2014 model year than any other vehicle in its class. To us, that says a lot about customer satisfaction, and we are honored to have customers return to the Mirage when they shop for a new vehicle.

“We are delighted to receive this Model Loyalty recognition by IHS Automotive,” said Don Swearingen, Mitsubishi Motors North America executive vice president. “Mitsubishi Motors has experienced growing customer loyalty across our entire model lineup through the years, and this award demonstrates that we are successfully retaining our current customers while simultaneously introducing new consumers to the brand.”

The new 2015 Mirage is now available with a starting price of $12,995. Contact us at Mountaineer Mitsubishi for more information on why so many customers stay loyal to the Mitsubishi Mirage.

Strong December Performance Leads to Impressive Annual Mitsubishi Sales

Annual Mitsubishi sales for 2014 ended with a strong December performance, as the automaker sold 6,545 vehicles, marking a 1.9% increase over December 2013 and the tenth consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases. That helped total sales for the year reach 77,643 units, a whopping 24.8% improvement over last year.

Highlights included the Outlander, Mirage, and Outlander Sport in particular. The latter experienced its best December ever, with 2,755 units sold and enjoyed a strong 24.5 percent overall sales increase for 2014 compared to last year. The Outlander was up 6.4 percent from 2013 while the Mirage continued its strong sales pace by yet again having over 1,000 units sold last month.

“As we move into 2015 we will start to introduce new versions of the Outlander with more refinement and power in what will be the first of a series of launches that will incorporate the brand’s new design language and vehicle packaging,” said Don Swearingen, executive VP.

We look forward to the New Year at Mountaineer Mitsubishi!
