Finding the perfect haunted place can make or break any Halloween adventure. We here at Mountaineer Mitsubishi have a few spooky places to visit in West Virginia that will make this Halloween one to remember.
Soldiers Memorial Theatre
A cemetery always bears a creepy vibe, and the Soldiers Memorial Theatre in Beckley is no exception. The theatre was built in the early 1930s and is believed to be near a cemetery from the Civil War era. That doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the recent haunting, though.
Witnesses claim to have seen an older man in clothing from the 1930s walking about. Ghosts have been seen and some passersby claim to have heard sounds of children playing. Some have even heard saxophone music coming seemingly from nowhere.
Glen Farris Inn
The Glen Farris Inn was built in 1839 and is said to be haunted by the ghost of a Confederate soldier. Nicknamed The Colonel, the ghost has a long beard and is friendly. He can be seen from the waist up, has audible footsteps, and makes a habit of closing doors behind people. Pack the family into the spacious Mitsubishi Outlander and get ready for a trip of a lifetime (or two).
Hawks Nest State Park
Hawks Nest State Park has a long history of hauntings. Legends claim that two lovers leapt off the cliff in the 1800s, but that’s just the beginning. Christened Lovers’ Leap, the cliff has become a popular suicide spot, thus earning a reputation for hauntings.by
