Mitsubishi has electrified the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show in a big way. The Japanese carmaker has showcased the Mitsubishi eX Concept, a compact SUV that utilizes the brand’s next-generation electric vehicle system. This concept car offers a look into the Mitsubishi brand future, thanks to its innovative technologies and new style.
“We have a very exciting plan to take Mitsubishi Motors to the next level, and that plan is through crossovers and electrified vehicles,” said Don Swearingen, chief operating officer for Mitsubishi Motors North America. “The eX Concept redefines the future of the compact SUV and is representative of the company’s design direction, both inside and out. With nearly 50 years’ experience of automotive electrification technology, we have the expertise and know-how to pioneer a new future with next-generation electric vehicles.”
On the exterior, the eX hints at a sportier Mitsubishi brand future. It has elegance and style thanks to the newest interpretation of the Japanese carmaker’s Dynamic Shield front design. This sporty look hints at the concept car’s athletic powertrain, which is capable of achieving 248.5 miles of range.
The eX combines Mitsubishi’s innovative electric-powered technologies with an all-wheel-drive system to create a practical, fuel-efficient mode of transportation. It also offers automated driving, connected car interfacing, and a multitude of active safety technologies that make this crossover one of the most advanced yet.
