Mitsubishi Mirage Preview Shows 2017 Model Sneak Peak

The Mitsubishi Mirage has been a great success for the car company despite skipping a 2016 model year. Now, Mitsubishi is preparing the 2017 Mirage for its release sometime next year after taking a year off to tweak and update the next-generation model to perfection. The recently-released Mitsubishi Mirage preview gives potential buyers insight into the new Mirage’s features.

Last year, the 2015 Mirage, despite needing to sell only 7,500 units in order to break even, sold over 16,000 units in the first year to the US market alone. Now, the 2017 Mirage made its debut at the recent Los Angeles Auto Show, showcasing the vehicle’s brand new styling, refined interior, and mechanical upgrades. The exterior design changes alone are significant, featuring a more prominent grille as part of the restyled front end in addition to the updated rear bumper, wheels, headlights, and fog lights.

The Mitsubishi Mirage preview also revealed the updated vehicle’s retuned suspension and larger brakes in order to appeal to the North American market. The 1.2-L 3-cylinder engine gets a slight increase in power over the preview iteration, now delivering about 78 HP. Updated technology will include a high-quality Rockford Fosgate audio system, as well as both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for ultimate smart phone capability.

2015 Mirage is Among Mitsubishi’s Best-Selling Vehicles

Mitsubishi’s Best-Selling Vehicle

When the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage outsold the Volkswagen GTI, Lexus GS, Toyota Prius V, Lincoln MKZ, Audi A4, and Mercedes S class last February, it wasn’t just a fluke.

The Mirage has now asserted itself as the fastest-growing nameplate in our lineup at Mountaineer Mitsubishi, something we’d probably have never predicted a few years ago. Even the company’s top executives are a bit surprised.

“It’s selling really, really well, beyond expectations,” said Bryan Arnett, senior manager of product strategy.

“Bryan never thought we’d sell in these numbers,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president, who explained that Mitsubishi had originally been split into those who thought the imported subcompact would work in the United States and those who thought it wouldn’t.

This year, the Mirage is one of Mitsubishi’s best-selling vehicles and the sharpest-rising model with a 73.6% increase compared to 2014, second only to the Outlander Sport in total sales. It outsells critically acclaimed models like the Tesla Model S and BMW i3 and competing vehicles like the Kia Rio and Toyota Yaris.

In hindsight, it may be no surprise. The Mirage costs just under $13,000, gets 44 miles to the gallon the highway, and comes with a 100,000-mile/10-year powertrain warranty. With numbers like these, maybe the Mitsubishi executives should have seen the success coming!

Customers Stay Loyal to the Mitsubishi Mirage When New Car Shopping

When it comes to loyal customers, the Mitsubishi Mirage has many. The vehicle ranked highest in customer loyalty among Non-Luxury Traditional Sub-Compact Cars for the 2014 model year.

A study by IHS Automotive confirmed that more previous owners of the Mirage returned to purchase a Mirage during the 2014 model year than any other vehicle in its class. To us, that says a lot about customer satisfaction, and we are honored to have customers return to the Mirage when they shop for a new vehicle.

“We are delighted to receive this Model Loyalty recognition by IHS Automotive,” said Don Swearingen, Mitsubishi Motors North America executive vice president. “Mitsubishi Motors has experienced growing customer loyalty across our entire model lineup through the years, and this award demonstrates that we are successfully retaining our current customers while simultaneously introducing new consumers to the brand.”

The new 2015 Mirage is now available with a starting price of $12,995. Contact us at Mountaineer Mitsubishi for more information on why so many customers stay loyal to the Mitsubishi Mirage.

2015 Mitsubishi Mirage’s Fuel Economy Ratings Are Best of Any Non-Hybrid

2015 Mitsubishi Mirage’s fuel economy

The 2015 Mirage five-door compact hatchback has earned the top fuel economy rating of any non-hybrid or non-electric vehicle in America. The 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage’s fuel economy is rated at an impressive 37 mpg city and 44 mpg highway, which is about the same as many hybrid models (but available at a fraction of the cost).

The Mirage has a price tag even lower than most used vehicles, which tend to retail for around $17,000. In comparison, the five-speed manual Mirage is available as low as $13,805, which makes it the third cheapest new car in America. The super-efficient Mirage with a CVT goes for just $14,905. In terms of safety features, the car comes with electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, and an abundance of air bags that keep you and your passengers protected.

The Detroit News says the light Mirage comes with impressive standard features that consist of a “rear spoiler, power outside mirrors, micron air filter, carpeted floor mats, keyless entry with panic alarm, power windows and door locks and air conditioning.” The car’s audio system can accommodate both CDs and MP3s, and every Mirage comes with a USB port.
