Mitsubishi already offers two of the most celebrated, reliable SUVs on the market – the Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander Sport – and now, the automaker is looking to expand, big time, by offering another new SUV every single year, until 2021.
The first new Mitsubishi will be based on the eX concept, an all-electric model that experts are predicting may also come in a petrol and diesel version. The eX concept model also gives us a good idea of Mitsubishi’s future design direction.
Then, you can expect a larger version of the ASX model found in the UK, a new mid-sized SUV similar to the Outlander, and finally, full-sized Shogun and Shogun Sport models, also based on European models.
The Outlander line has been an enormous hit in the United States, so it’s no wonder that Mitsubishi is planning to expand its SUV lineup so drastically. In fact, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander was just named a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS. Mitsubishi will undoubtedly aim for similar recognition for all its SUVs.
