The Mitsubishi brand has been making the Outlander PHEV for a few years now, but they’ve recently begun expanding the PHEV lineup. In fact, an all-new Mitsubishi EV Concept recently appeared at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, and it’s a concept that will soon make it to the United States as a production vehicle. The new concept is the GC-PHEV, which stands for Grand Cruiser Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle.
The GC-PHEV looks like it might be a replacement for the discontinued Mitsubishi Montero. The Montero and Montero Sport were very popular and sold very well, but now the GC-PHEV might take its place. It will come with a supercharged V-6 engine, an electric motor and lithium ion battery, and even an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Mitsubishi is already experiencing a sales surge here in the United States, and a boosted PHEV lineup should only help that trend continues. The GC-PHEV will come with all kinds of safety technology as well, from the “Next-Generation Driver Safety Support System (DSSS)” to the forward collision mitigation system.
